This new feature will enable users to connect and interact with one another across different countries in Africa. With just a single click, users can meet new people, create conversations and network with others using the app.

Hype is already gaining massive amounts of recognition in English-speaking African countries, with over 2.4 million activations as at the time of this write-up.

Opera — in response to the increasing demands by its users — recently introduced a Find New Friends feature to the Hype chatting platform. This makes it easier for users to connect with interesting people and initiate conversations.

Speaking at the launch, EVP of Mobile Browsers Business Unit at Opera — Jørgen Andersen — disclosed;

“A popular African proverb says: one without friends is indeed poor. Networking is one of the most important things in today’s world, we cannot overemphasise the power of friendship. Our new feature enables users to initiate a conversation with a random person with just a single click. In less than one month since its launch, the platform has already become a sensation, with many users across Africa. We are very happy that our Nigerian users are maximising our new service,” he stated.

The Hype chatting platform is relatively easy to use. You can start chatting with new friends by simply clicking “Find New Friends” after creating an account. Instantaneously, you will be matched with a random user who had made the same request and is ready to meet new people.

Opera Mini has also added some essential guidelines to ensure that the Find new Friends feature guarantees the safety of its users. Users can easily halt conversations at any point and are advised to always put on their privacy mode.

Below is the process of creating a profile on Hype:

  • Download Opera Mini for free via Play Store or Apple App Store
  • Create a Hype account by clicking on the Hype logo at the end of the browser or via the “O” menu.
  • Select a username and add a profile picture that will be visible to other Hype users
  • Sync Hype with your phone’s contacts and start conversations with other users
